
The Problem.
Health workers in Africa often miss opportunities to screen patients for cancer. Tests are usually run only when patients present with symptoms. Unfortunately, Low income patients are much less likely to have annual medical checkups that are covered by health insurance.
Hence it is quite common for patients to present at advanced stages( stages 3 or 4). However resources are scarce and funding for mass screening programs are limited. In addition, radio diagnostic equipment may be inaccessible outside of main urban areas.
